CHURCH HILL THEATRE
The Church Hill Theatre, which
was originally Morningside Free Church
and like Christ Church, it was built by the Edinburgh
architect Hippolyte Blanc (1844 – 1917), renowned
for his buildings in the Gothic revival style.
Run by the Assembly Rooms, it is a popular venue
at the Edinburgh Fringe and it
is also the home to many of the city's amateur theatre
companies.
The theatre reopened in
August 2006 after extensive refurbishment
to the public areas including the foyer, café bar
area and installation of a new extension which
provides lift access to the Auditorium.
The venue comprises of 2 areas for hire;
Theatre the auditorium seats 353 and has 4 dressing
rooms.
Studio this space can accommodate rehearsals, meetings
and parties with a capacity of up to 130 depending
on the use of the space.
A Café Bar was recently
franchised by Loopy Lorna's Tea House who also has
a busy café in Morningside
